Start to change a hair style:
- Select a small strand of hair and place in the curling iron.
- Place the curling iron handle near the scalp or your head with iron tip facing down.
- Wrap your hair from base of the curling iron to the tip in a downward direction, heat protective gloves is necessary to protect your hands.
- Hold hair around the curling wands about 3 to 5 seconds.
- Release hair from the tip and let hair slide down. Do not pull hair down, it will make the curl be tangled.

There is definitely a learning curve to using these devices. One recommendation I absolutely can make is that while learning to use one of these irons, you should use a heat-resistant glove on your alternate hand, because you will reach up and grab the hair instinctively several times before learning your lesson. Or at least - you will if you're like me and have 732 things on your mind/going on/running around you while you're trying to put a decent curl in your hair.
The rotator on this iron pulls more firmly than my other one, but I prefer it. It feels like it pulls the curl a lot tighter and thus is putting more heat and tension on the curl space, resulting in a longer lasting style. The pull is not so tight that it hurts my scalp, though, which is saying something - I'm woefully tender-headed and any harsh pull on my hair would be noticeable. I have to be honest- when I watched the video and saw how sped up the curling action was, I was concerned that it was done to disguise how long the rotator took to perform its duties and curl sections, but I'm pleased to report that the task is rather quick and it is a single-pass styling tool, so no need to recurl any sections (as long as they come out the way you like, of course). You'll also need to be wary of tip kinks on your hair if you don't load the section into the iron correctly ,but a lot of people tend to like this type of straight-end kink on their curls (a la curls created using styling wands, so your end tips are always kinked/straight) so it's personal preference. I have only used the smallest and medium-size barrels; my hair has natural giant waves so I haven't needed the larger one, but I am sure it would perform as satisfactorily as its counterparts.
Overall I'm really satisfied with and super recommend this awesome hair tool. At this particular price point, the three-barrel system is a great value, the performance is rockin, style settings and operation is a cinch, and heat up time is practically zero! I literally turned this tool on, turned around to open a fruit pouch for my child, turned back to the curling iron, and it was ready to go. Awesome.
